First of all, our most important contributors to the project are the people. They make this project come alive with sharing their stories, inviting us in and let us take part in their lifes. We are just there to record this and shape it together at the end. These are their stories, not ours, so this project is nothing without them and all our thanks are going to them for this!

But to give you a little insight into who is behind the project and talks to all those people, here we go:

Simon Sticker

Founder, photographer, videographer, writer

Simon works as a freelance visual storyteller. He uses different forms of media to do so. He does that because he thinks it’s amazing to learn about other peoples lifes. But he also thinks that there are way to many stories that get never told and that expressing them visually helps us to understand life in other parts of the world better. This is why he had the idea for HUMANS. Simon started the project with Maja and travelled for it from Capetown to Cairo for the first part of the project, exploring the lifes of different people in different countries under different living conditions in Africa. www.simonsticker.com

Maja Nordbrandt

Co-Founder, interviewer, writer

Maja is a medical student. Next year she will be a doctor. She wishes to explore the human condition as a psychiatrist in the future and finished her thesis right before HUMANS on refugees with Post-Traumatic-Stress-Disorder. For HUMANS Maja made good use of her empathy and sensibility to make the interviews for the project on the first part in Africa. Maja thinks that just traveling for six months in general is a bit boring, but that travelling with HUMANS as a project is great. In the future Maja hopes to never explore places differently again.

Yann Verbeke

Photographer & videographer

Yann wrote Simon early and said he wants to participate, however and whereever we need him. And because Yann makes great movies we are more than happy to have him in the boat. Yann is from Belgium and works freelance as a photographer and videographer, a perfect combination for the project. Yann did his first film for HUMANS in Southern France and will explore more HUMANS lifes throughout Europe or where life and work takes him in the future.

Emile Carlsen

Photographer & videographer

Carrying his camera everywhere he goes, Emile is a part time photographer that is always ready to catch the unexpected story. He has travelled as a passionate hitchhiker through continental Europe several times and has been working as a tourist guide in India since 2008. This has given him a great knowledge and understanding, which he uses to get close to people and decide when to push the camera button.

Sasja Nordbrandt

Interviewer & writer

Carrying out the HUMANS project in India together with Emile, Sasja’s interest in the human condition as a general subject of importance and care comes into play in different fields. Working as a yoga teacher in Copenhagen while finishing the last year of her medical studies she is now and will in the future be dealing directly with different aspects of living as a human being.
